One of Hanford' oldest Chinese restaurants, (maybe now THE oldest). HKCS is a landmark in the town and a part of Hanford's small but I believe fantastic China Town. I hope it remains here for a long time and more people support it as opportunities arise. HKCS is an outstanding Chinese restaurant and represents Chinese cuisine well to the people of Hanford. I can't say what my favorites are there because I order differently almost every time I dine there. The food is always very good, and the service is fast and courteous. The decor is pretty much basic Chinese and lends authenticity to the meal. Visit Hong Kong Chop Suey and try a few of their excellent dishes.

Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at Hong Kong Chop Suey Restaurant, a hidden gem nestled on the outskirts of Downtown Hanford, flanked by two other Chinese eateries. Despite its unassuming exterior, the restaurant boasts ample parking and an inviting ambiance. While booth seating is limited, the main dining area exudes comfort. From the moment I stepped in, the staff greeted me with exceptional politeness, particularly noteworthy since I was a first-time patron. The server went above and beyond, providing valuable recommendations and patiently explaining the array of options available. Opting for a Combo priced at $10.50, my lunch included a delightful medley of Chow Mein, Fried Rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken, two succulent Chicken Wings, and Vegetable Chicken bathed in a savory gravy-like sauce. As an appetizer, I couldn't resist ordering the Potstickers, which arrived in a generous portion of eight. Each bite revealed a perfect harmony of flavors, with the pronounced meatiness of the pork harmonizing beautifully with the fragrant notes of green onion. Accompanied by a side of chili oil, the Potstickers truly stood out, their subtle kick enhancing the overall experience. It's worth noting that among the six Chinese establishments in Hanford, only three craft their Potstickers in-house, while others resort to store-bought alternatives or offer Gyoza instead. Moving on to the main course, both the Sweet and Sour Chicken and the accompanying Chicken Wings retained their crispy textures, even beneath their lustrous glaze. The Vegetable Chicken dish proved equally delightful, allowing the distinct flavors of the fresh vegetables and tender chicken to shine harmoniously. For my Chow Mein, I opted for the traditional preparation--a bed of pan-fried noodles topped with a delectable mix of sauced bean sprouts and Chinese BBQ Pork. While the noodles possessed a subtle sweetness that caught me off guard, they complemented the dish nicely. Regrettably, the Fried Rice fell short of expectations, lacking the robust flavors I had hoped for. Although punctuated by scattered pieces of BBQ Pork, it failed to leave a lasting impression. Overall, Hong Kong Chop Suey Restaurant exceeded my expectations, delivering a delicious and satisfying meal with portions that surpassed my initial estimation. I wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to fellow diners and eagerly anticipate my return visit to sample more of their enticing offerings.
